From Brewery to Gallery & Coffee Shop
History lies deep within these walls! This lovely old building has many remnants from its past, from thick stone walls to large sash windows.
This former brewery was reportedly constructed by Robert George, a wine merchant, between 1879 and 1882 using the remains of the old Custom House. However, this might just be a story as the old Customs House was being advertised for sale in 1885. The company owned by George was merged with the Swansea Old Brewery in 1896 and was later acquired by W. Hancock's in 1927.
The building is now Grade II listed and still has features from its past on show, from medieval doors, to remnant walls and windows that aren't quite perfect, but are beautifully perfect for not being perfect!
We are delighted that we have had the opportunity to breathe life back into the space with our lovely gallery and coffee shop, full of wonderful pieces by local artists, and coffee and cake to die for!
